Lean Into Uncomfortable Feelings

Anxiety and depression and the feelings that come with them, make life seriously miserable. When you don’t feel like getting out of bed or you have panic attacks each time you leave the house, the only thing you want is for those feelings to go away.

The thing about these feelings is they are trying to tell you something about your situation that isn’t working for you anymore. Feelings come from somewhere. Instead of trying to push them away, let’s lean into them, welcome them in and ask what they have come to show you.

It’s amazing what you can learn about yourself, about your environment, about your thoughts and values when you allow yourself to look, gently, at what feelings are pointing toward. It allows reflection and that turns into growth, health and healing.

So, instead of trying to push feelings away or trying to wish them away. Let’s change your mindset to welcoming those feelings, asking them what they’re here to tell you and watch your life transform. This is the way to change.

When you’re in a counseling space with me, this is what you will find. A place of acceptance of all things being brought in for examination, no matter how icky, painful or embarrassing they feel. There is nothing we will shy away from, but we will approach them at your rate and in your time. It’s a dance that we will learn to dance together. You are not alone.
